Prickly Pear Cactus Products

It all began in 1979 with a High Desert Farms family recipe for prickly pear castus products. Today, Prickly Pear Cactus jelly is still a favorite. In all of our prickly pear cactus products we use the fresh juice of the prickly pear cactus berries.

Prickly Pear Cactus Fruit: Grown on sun-drenched deserts and watered naturally by our generous monsoon rains, the succulent prickly pear cactus fruit produces a rich, fruity flavor with distinct clarity and a delicate aroma.

The end result has spoken for itself for more than 29 years

How to Eat Prickly Pear Cactus

Prickly pear cactus has been a staple of the Mexican and Central American diet for thousands of years. In parts of the U.S. it has been gaining popularity as an exotic, gourmet and healthy addition to one's diet.

The prickly pear plant has two different edible sections: the pad of the cactus (nopal), which can be treated like a vegetable, and the pear (tuna), which can be treated like a fruit.

They grow wild throughout the American southwest, down to South America and up to Canada.

The ones you may find at a local store or farmers market will surely originate from a commercial nopal farm.
